The Husband.
Hi computer land, its me Kendall. You see all these wonderful pictures of my beautiful wife and daughter and sometimes my charming face. :) But I have never posted anything on the Barretts Blog. So, without further delay here is post number one from dun... dun.. dun. The Father, the husband, the geek. I love my little family very much and am incredibly happy to have such a sweet little girl. She is the single greatest thing I have ever done. She is the greatest joy and also my greatest sadness sometimes. Poor Mady cakes is teething right now which makes life, well... fun. At least tonight she went to sleep before 3 am. Which is always a plus! I have to give credit to my gorgous wife cassandra, without here my world would be a sad lonely place. She is my guiding light, my hand in the darkness, my high school sweet heart and all around BEST friend. All in all I consider myself to be a VERY lucky man. I have a BEAUTIFUL daughter (thanks to her moms awesome looks) and I got the cheerleader to marry me (which for a nerd is agreat acomplishment) :) So maybe you will see my ramblings on here a little bit more from now on.....

Hello...
and Bye-Bye!
We've been teaching Mady to wave hello and goodbye..and she's done it a few times..but it seemed like too much of a coincidence, like she didn't know she was doing it. Well for sure this week she started doing it for real! It is so cute!

Fun times
It's very hard to get pics of Mady these days...
Mady is currently working on two more teeth, on top this time. I think they will pop out any day now, you can see them trying. This means this week has been like you know what. I feel so sad for my baby and her pain. This too shall pass.

Funny story...Kendall went to get Mady out of her pack and play where she was napping and he didn't turn on the light first and he went to pick her up and hit her on the head...because she was standing up waiting for him! I know, it's not really that funny, but sort of because he had no idea she could do that (none of us did) and he wasn't expecting her head to be up so high. Anyways, she has figured out how to stand up, and it seems like once she figured it out, she can do it whenever she wants, it just took once. Yesterday when I was running the bath water, she pulled herself up and was standing by the tub, and tried to get her leg up over the edge to get in.
She is really starting to have stranger anxiety...more so with men. Lauren, Skyler, and Lauren's cousin came over Saturday to visit, and anytime Skyler would try to talk to her and get near her she would cry this pitiful cry..I felt so bad because she was scared, and because Skyler is a sweet person and I know he loves Mady and would never be mean to her.

Sitting up...
Now that Mady is crawling on her hands and knees, she quickly learned how to get into a sitting position again from her tummy. This means she sits up in bed and is no longer taking naps. You don't have to sleep if you aren't laying down right? So this has been going on all week, no napping =very very grumpy baby. This also means my sanity is going out the window. At first I thought it was so cute to open her bedroom door and see her sitting there waiting for someone to come play..now...not so much.

Prison and reading
Mady's mean Mommy uses a baby gate to keep her out of the kitchen while she's cooking...and those are Dolly's toes, see nothing wrong with them! Perfectly normal :)
Mady generally doesn't tolerate cuddling, kisses, or people in her space. BUT she has really started enjoying having a book read to her. Her favorite is Touch and Feel Alaska's Animals which came from Kendall's Mom when we went to Alaska. She is obsessed. We have to read this book several times a day. We all pretty much have it memorized. I'm so glad that she likes reading, I hope that it will continue. Plus it gives us our cuddle time :)

Dolly's Toe
I discovered today that Dolly still has toe nail polish on just one toe, her big toe, from...PROM which was in APRIL. Apparently it is something sentimental. Weird. She won't let me take a picture, something about my toe is ugly and fat. whatever.
Rannndooom
I colored Dolly's hair last night and Kendall and I made our first homemade pie from apples from the apple tree behind our house. It turned out quite delicious! I answered an bulletin board ad from someone looking for fruit and they came and got 6 bags of apples, and they hardly made a dent, so if someone has a ladder and wants to come get some apples, please do!
