Update on our healthy adventure...

Sorry about all these boring posts.

We've been doing really good at keeping our food diaries and watching what we eat! It was super hard to go over to Wes' house because they had chips and candy for snacks, but we resisted! Well, I had 11 chips.. the serving size lol. I figured I deserved it :)
So.. we measured ourselves last week so we'd be able to tell if we were losing any inches.
AND we've been going for walks as the weather allows and working out on our elliptical almost everyday...
We both lost 2 lbs after the first week! We hope to lose between 1-2 lbs/week. We've got a long way to go, but it'll be worth it!

What the?

So I called my mom a few days ago (I wanna say Saturday?) and she never called me back, which was weird. So my dad calls me today while I'm in class, but I can't answer. So he calls again this afternoon from his cell, and I asked 'are you home' 'cause he works on the slope for a few weeks and then is off for a few weeks at a time. He says, no we're in Phoenix. UH?? My parents live in Alaska. So I'm not sure if they told me they were going down there or not, but I had no clue. LOL. Anyways, we're going to try Skype again tonight, which is so much fun! It's so cool for Mady to be able to SEE her grandparents and all that. If only I could convince them to stop in Idaho for a visit one of these days.... :)

Friday night...

Instead of studying and doing a ridiculous amount of biology homework, we went to our friends Wes and Mindy's. I didn't get any pictures, but I have to tell you (whoever you are) about what we did. They made a home made pictionary game and we played it. They had 10 cups with pieces of paper. Each cup had a category (Family, church, kids movies, food, jobs, states, countries, non-kid movies, animals, and I can't remember what else) anyways, you roll the 10 die and that determined your category. You get the idea. There were 9 of us (4 couples and a single guy) so one person was the score keeper and we made up our own rules for the time limits and scoring. ANYWAYS... the whole point of this long story is to make fun of myself and Kendall. I learned that Kendall has no idea where countries are and I can't draw. Wait, I already knew that part about me. So Kendall gets the country BRAZIL. He has no idea what HEMISPHERE it's in, let alone continent. LOL So today I showed him :) Um, you know, that one that is almost as big as Europe? LOL

The other part of this story, is that I was supposed to draw BEETLEJUICE for a non-kid movie, and I thought it was going to be easy, since in the movie, Beetlejuice has to do the same thing to get her to say his name. Anyways, after drawing a brillant beetle + a cup of juice we figured out 2/3 in my group have never even seen the movie or even heard of it! Guess what we're watching next? :)

Dolly is gone :(

So today I really missed Dolly (who left last Saturday morning) because it is really hard to play game with just two people. :)

I am finally ready to make a commitment.

I know I need to lose weight:
For me.
For my family.
For my health.
For fun. (haha riiiggght)

Seriously though. It's very simple, calories in, more calories out.
So far over that last week I have stopped eating junk food (I'm addicted to chips) and I am keeping a food diary and writing everything down and how many calories. I switched to whole grain everything a while ago, and I try my best to make healthy meals. It was what I eat in between and late at night that was getting me. I just did 30 minutes on the elliptical and I walked 2 mile today. OH and I used my special inhaler before, and I NEVER KNEW how hard it was for me to breath before. It used to hurt in my chest so bad, but this time, nothing at all. Also, my I was able to keep my heart rate within a healthy range, versus struggling to breath and having my heart rate be in the 180's. I just can't believe what a difference it made, way more enjoyable.

4 speed..

is really not my style. LOL

I decided yesterday that I really should be able to drive Kendall's truck...just in case . This idea came after I got Kendall a bike as a surprise and had to have Dolly ride it home. Anyways, we drove around the block a few times until I felt comfortable and went to take it out onto Main street. The thing is, I've driven a manual before, and it comes back to you. I've never driven a four speed though, or one without the numbers on the stick. So I get to the first light and we are turning left (A TON OF TRAFFIC, since everyone's coming back for school to start Monday) and I kill it in the middle of the intersection. 4 times. Was I mortified? Yes. But laughing. Well it was stuck in third, not first and once Kendall saw that we were able to take off out of the way. I made it all the way to Walmart, and if you are from here, you know how dumb the traffic is on 2nd east when it's bumper to bumper. The reason we were driving was to find me a bike too. So now we both have bikes! I'm going to bike to school since my class is in a building with no parking and I want the exercise. Kendall already biked to work this morning. A guy at Kendall's work designed and built his own kiddie trailer for his bike, and he's going to help Kendall build one for us!

Best Buddies

This face cracks me up!

She has learned to show us her tummy, her eyes, nose, mouth, ears, our noses, and comb hair.

Easter & box from Mom and Dad

Mady loves her Endicott Island Bear!

Bear World

Last Saturday Bear World had a special early opening for BYU-I's graduation. Kendall took Mady and Dolly and I stayed home sick.

Who cares about the rain?

I know I sound ridiculously happy, and that's because I'm so RELIEVED. Mady was starting to walk a while ago, but has been sick off and on for the last three months and really regressed. I knew she was capable of walking, she just wouldn't. Today, out of the BLUE, she just figured out how to stand up and walk. She literally just got up and walked.

About the grades below

Okay I'm not sure if they look that great, but to me.. I'm psyched! That abnormal psych class was .. brutal and 15 credits + 15 month old.. I'd say I did alright :)

I'm excited!!!

Help Needed...

Since Dolly is leaving on the 18th, we had arranged for someone to come watch Mady while I'm taking my biology class and english class next semester. Well I just got an email that she found something else. Thanks. A lot. How the heck are we going to find someone else we trust and can depend on in a week and a half? She was supposed to start next week to get used to the routine. Soo... if anyone knows someone looking for part time income... let me know!

Oh yeah, my classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:45 until 1:00 and Fridays 7:45-9:45. I would need time to get to class though, so about 15-20 minutes before and after. Kendall can come home on lunch so it would be more like 9:20-12:20.

My first 'fridge art'

Flowers from Mom and Dad

I can't believe I didn't take a picture of her hair after we took the braids out, it was amazing.

Last Week

Mady loves getting in her toy box for some reason..she's chewing on her fishing pole

Mady was quiet for too long . . . and I found her on this table. It WAS where I put her books out of reach so she wouldn't rip them up. She has started climbing onto everything ...which is a little scary.

Madeline's 15 month stats

Mady had her check up this morning ... .and

She weighs 18.9 lbs (3%...which means 97% of babies her age are bigger :( )
She is 31 inches tall ( 68%...which means she's a skinny tall girl)

She's meeting all her developmental goals... which surprised me since she isn't walking yet, but she is still right on track. She lost half a pound since January, but they weren't too concerned about it yet since she has basically been sick almost the last three months. She doesn't eat when she's sick (who does really) but when she eats, she eats just about anything we put in front of her. I'm a so glad that she loves her fruits AND veggies... We are supposed to try giving her Pediasure to help fatten her up. and a stick of butter a day.. .just kidding.

On a different topic.. I got Kendall good this afternoon when he was home on lunch. I couldn't fool him into thinking I was pregnant because he knows for sure that I'm not.. so I played a prank on him instead. He was heating up some soup and he ran out to pull the garbage thing in off the road and while he was outside I stuck a rubberband on the sprayer in the sink (not very original, but CLASSIC lol) anyways, I knew he would rinse out his pan when he was done with it, hehehehehehe. It sprayed him and soaked him! :)
